beauty at the beach {maternity}

Remember that huge downpour and lightening storm we had a few weeks back? Well, this here mommy-to-be and I braved it for some photos:o) We managed to get most of the beach shots done before the clouds opened up, but when we headed back for some urban shots, well, it poured!!! And we stood out in the lightening storm… for pictures! Now that’s dedication, on both our parts:o)

I will start at the beginning. This beautiful family met up with me at the thousand steps in White Rock. (incidentally, this was where they had their wedding photos done, also in the rain. *sigh* some people just can’t catch a break, haha) But despite the rain, this family is impossible not to get a great shot of! Here are a few favorites:

(I have another shot of both the one above, and below where the kids are both looking and smiling, but I preferred these ones:o) kids being kids are always my favorites!!)

We let the kids (and dad) have some fun throwing rocks in the water (cause seriously, what kid can resist throwing rocks in the water?!?) it may not have been the best of ideas being that mom was wearing a white skirt:o) but all’s well that ends well, and I love this shot, so maybe it was worth it

Kirsten and I met way back:o) in high school, at youth group, so it was very nice to be able to do some photos for her and catch up on the last…many years.:o) Although she told me she sometimes feels awkward in front of the camera, she could have fooled me! She is so beautiful and truly, didn’t take a bad picture. They have such a sweet family, it was an absolute pleasure to spend time with them and take their photos!

After all the fun on the beach, we headed back up those 1000 steps (which I made it up just fine, thankful I wasn’t the one carrying a baby, in my belly or in my arms:o) but I’m so sad to admit that my calves were a little sore the next day! I’d better start working out!) and took a few more photos on the way up and over.

From here, Kirsten and I headed to downtown Cloverdale for some urban shots, where we had all that fun in the rain and lightening. I’ll just post one from there before I leave you to run a million (has anyone noticed that I tend to exaggerate what I have to do?) errands.
