benjamin {newborn photography, surrey bc}

b-1

Remember this little guy? He’s already grown and changed. It happens so fast. I’m pretty sure he was the most docile newborn I’ve ever photographed. Only Sophia could give him a run for his money. He stayed awake through most of his session, but didn’t make a peep. I’m not sure he has a voice, this sweet baby.:o) I love doing newborn sessions for friends. They know me. They know my baby abilities. They trust me with their little ones. Like this time; Samantha handed me her baby and then went to get herself and her other four (haha, daddy too!) boys ready. So I got to have him all to myself for a bit, and he was an angel. And cute to boot!

I think he liked me:o)

I finished his photos in record time, and when everyone was ready we got some shots with his proud parents

And then we grabbed the big brothers.

It was fun for me to have the two older boys. They’re old enough to hold him…bigger. You know what I mean. With toddlers, I have to be real quick, and parents have to stand close by, but with the older boys, well I guess they’re just a little more trustworthy. And some of their shots brought tears to my eyes. Particularly this one:

I have a couple last shots. I think that when I remember the Olympics here in Vancouver, I will likely think of little Benjamin. If you remember, he was born the day I had tickets to my first Olympic experience. We watched the clock as we waited for his arrival, and then I had to go. As I watched figure skaters achieve their Olympic dreams, I got the text that he had been born. And we did his newborn session the day of the unforgettable Canada, USA gold medal game. I was watching the game and worrying about losing light:o) So he is my olympic baby. I had to pull out my son’s olympic toque to commemorate this.

Congrats again Matt and Sam! He is just perfect and I’m so happy for you guys!! It has been my honor to be a small part of his first days.

Lastly, a little business. I should mention that I only have about three more weekend dates available between now and the end of June. I may be able to squeeze in a few evening or weekday session before then as well. I have had quite a few requests for summer and even the fall (already!!) but I am wanting to hold off booking those until the end of May when my family’s summer plans are more firm. I am so looking forward to the warmer weather and longer days ahead!
