somewhere under the rainbow {family photography, new westminster bc}

I had been looking forward to this particular session for a while. Meet Ben and Cassandra, and their sweet children. Cassandra is a Seattle based photographer, and I am always honored when other photographers ask me to take their family photos. We are facebook friends, so I feel as though I had a pretty good glimpse at who this family was and I expected the session to be a lot of fun. And I was not disappointed. This is such a wonderful family! I’ve mentioned before that it is always my  goal to try and capture the relationship, and not just the people. Sometimes that’s easy to do, and sometimes it takes a little more work. Often when I have an instant connection with people, this just seems to happen easily. And today was such a day. When you meet this family you can’t help but love them. And feel the love between them. And I hope I captured that.

They have some pretty precious little ones. The big sister:

Their middle child, who reminds me a lot of my youngest with his thumb sucking, giraffey loving ways:o)

And last but not least, their baby, (and another one of those crazy one year olds I’d mentioned:o)

Mom was very prepared with all sorts of snacks, and everything to keep the kids happy. She even had her mom along, which was a great help. (and I did get a few great shots of, they will be on the disk!) And there is so much to do at Queens park, we took our time, wandering and chatting, oh, and taking the occasional picture . Are you ready? Cause there are a lot of favorites coming your way:

I admit that I was a little negligent in some areas at this session. I have checked out Cassandra’s blog often enough to know that she has many fabulous photos of her littles with their daddy. So many great photos. And, as a photographer, I know how few photos I have of me with my kids, so I tended to focus a little on getting some of those. I think Ben will forgive me:o).

And one last shot that Cassandra asked me to get, it just seems fitting as the last shot:

Thanks again you guys! I had a great time with you guys, hearing your “how we met” story, filling in all the gaps, talking shop:o)  and just watching your sweet family be together. I truly didn’t want to leave:o) But I had two more session this day, and they will be up soon! (Erin – you’re next!!) So I had better go edit some more. Hope you enjoyed your peek, I will be in touch with the rest!

cassandra - I have already pulled the pictures I had on my family room wall off so I can make a giant collage of all these family pictures. I am thrilled to have so many great ones of our whole family together! Carmen, you are amazing.
