I just thought I would do a quick post of our get away to Sonoma, California. Wine Country.
My husband’s company offers incentive trips every year, and this year the trip was to Sonoma. We have gotten to go to some pretty wonderful places because of this. All the other trips we have been on have been to tropical places. Lie on the beach and relax kinds of places. So this year was a little different. It was more of an adventure trip for us. We flew into San Fransisco and drove the hour out to Sonoma. It has a quaint little town square with little shops and restaurants, and of course there are vineyards everywhere.
(I’m only posting pics of John and I, although we spent most of our time as a group.) So here is a brief look at what we did. We toured wineries and checked out the process of making cheese. Which was maybe not such a great idea for me. I love cheese, and seeing (not to mention smelling) all those rounds of moldy stinky cheese was… not all that appealing.

We toured vineyards, which was actually really good for someone like me, who is not such a wine fan. I think I may be acquiring a taste for it
) Although I don’t know that I will ever be someone who loves wine.

I even snuck in a mini session, but that will be my next post. We enjoyed dinners out at fancy restaurants and little diners and middle of nowhere cafes. (all without kids! No cutting up food, no spilled drinks, no chasing two year olds, no telling anyone else to eat, and best of all, no cleaning up!!)

We actually spent a lot of time in San Fransisco . I grew up going to San Fran a lot. My dad is a huge (to say the least) Giant’s fan. I have been to many a giants game. But I still got to experience many firsts there. I had never been to Alcatraz. It was really neat to go there. I highly recommend it (though I hear the night tour is the best way to see it. And apparently (so I was told) on Halloween you can go for a sleepover there. How creepy would that be?!?)

After touring Alcatraz, riding electric streetcars (not to be confused with San Fran’s famous cable cars) checking out a few shops and dining in fun restaurants we also got to go and see the broadway musical “Wicked”. It was definitely a highlight for me. I have wanted to see this show for a long time, and it was wonderful!! (and just for a little Wicked trivia for you, did you know that it originally launched in SF? It’s true, so we got to see it in its birthplace.)

We checked out the touristy San Fransisco sites like the windy road, the cable cars, fisherman’s wharf and drove over the Golden Gate Bridge many times over. (which can get kind of pricey! ;o) )

And on our last night there I did something for my dad.

We had a wonderful time, my hubby and me. It was so great to spend some time together. Going everywhere and seeing so many things, and having fun just the two of us. Though of course I missed my babies, I think these times alone are so important for us. To reconnect and have fun together. I love this man with everything in me and am so thrilled that he is mine, and I, his. He makes me laugh all the time. Often for no reason. his laugh makes me laugh. He walks in the room and I start to smile. I adore him. And right now, I am missing him.

I love you John! Thank-you for all that you do for us!!! Now come on home and give your wife a kiss!!!
